Postby stock91w350 » Sat Jan 30, 2010 5:16 pm

every time i hit a sharp bump it feels like something slaps up underneith my left foot, i looked under there and there is nothing there exept the cab mount but it looks all good, any ideas? also when my hubs are locked in and in both 2 or 4wd it makes a chatter noise from the passenger side, maybe the u joint?

On my truck, both the brake calipers and the little clamp-things that keep the leaf springs from spreading too far made a clanging noise when I hit bumps in my truck.

I just put some some silicone caulking on the clamp and hammered some folded-up steel in the caliper gaps.

Check the rear spring/shackle area. Are the springs bottomed out? It could be the spring eye hitting the frame when you hit a bump.

do u guys mean the rear of the front shackels? i check and the rubber stop that points down is really close to touching, is that normal? i have about 1000lbs of sand in the back but its pushed back to the tailgate and doesent go past the whee lwells, I would figure that would make the front higher? all i have on the front is plow gear, the plows not on it

Yep, may be time for new springs. Look on the frame right behind the shackle where the spring eye bolt goes through...

Jack it up and if the wheels don't fall off, she is good. :D The springs do bend backwards. You also might be pounding the bump stop rubbers or they rubbers may be broke off. I think my other truck I had was missing a rubber stop and it would pound bad on a bump. Its an old truck it has a right to make some sounds.

it has the rubbers and there close to touching just sitting there, it doesent have to be a big bump and i dont have to be going fast either for it to happen. it just started doing this in the last couple weeks
