Lets crunch some numbers shall we.
Gear ratios for auto as follows
1st 2.45:1
2nd 1.45:1
3rd 1.00:1
OD .69:1
Ok, lets take those number and apply the .69:1 overdrive ratio to them.
1st gear becomes 1.69:1 An advantage? I don't know.
2nd gear becomes 1.0005:1, no real advantage here.
I don really see an advantage doing something like that.
Hmm thanks Mike, for painting a better pitcher of it..........................
I guess if you need a taller axle gear to launch better or some thing......and you only raced 1/8 mile,,and never made it into over drive.......there might be a benefit to it.
As far as spitting gears, looks like you would need smaller overdrive ratio.
Interesting thought just the same
