wipers quit working

Postby hemislave » Thu Mar 08, 2012 6:42 pm

A couple of days ago turned the wipers on, for a nano second they started to work then quit. checked the fuse looks ok. swapped in a new fuse just in case.Nothing, cant hear or feel the motor running. Got my test lite out and checked for power at the motor, the plug for the motor has 4 lugs, has power at the 2 left terminals. I asume this is normal? I then ran a jumper wire of the battery to test the motor and got no response there. I guess the motor is toast ? Any ideas

Usually it's the little plastic clips that connect the motor to the linkage. It's only a few screws to pop off the cowl panel and check it out.

Yeah, I will check those out as well, I didnt think it was that because I can turn the wipers by hand theres a lot of resistance, I can fell the motor turning. Thanks

that motors brushes could just be stuck. Turn the wipers on and bump the motor with a hammer. Should jar the brushes so they'll touch the armature again.
