6x.018?

Postby Dieselhick » Mon Mar 16, 2009 2:55 pm

Will a set of 6x.018s pass a snap test/smoke test on a stock set-up? Im thinkin of getting a set but I have to pass emissions. :(

I think Philip tows with his 6X.018's with stock pump setting (or close to it) but I don't know how bad they would smoke without a load, or how they smoke with a load for that matter. If he tows with them, I wouldn't think they would smoke that bad though...

Why don't you just keep the stockers in until after the emissions test?

Philips doesn't smoke because his converter never loads the engine enough to. ;)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

setup for power they haze slightly drivin around but they will never pass a snap test unless you turn down the pump, starwheel etc before you go - I got through one last fall, but I think it was helpfull the guy liked pull trucks and it is a visual test.

Just unhook your AFC boost line. It will not smoke no matter what you do. :D

I ask because my #6 injector is screwed and that cylinder knocks and it wont pass etest because of the white smoke. I eventually will be doing some performance modifications and was just wondering if I could go to the 6x.018s with the stock engine and have no problems.

Turn your fuel pin to a lower setting. Screw the smoke screw down. You would be suprised how clean you can run a set of 6x.018's.

On a cold engine look out. It will smoke. After the engine warms up. The exhaust will be pretty clear.

Seeker I live about 45 minutes south of you and I was wondering where you got your 6x.018s from. Did you get them straight from a manufacturer or from a dealer here.

Seriously? I was trying to get my truck back down to stock no-smoke levels (which are totally no smoke at all), and I found it impossible. Blocking the AFC line did hardly anything. The only way I had to reduce smoke was backing off the power screw, but by the time I did that far enough to stop the smoke, the truck could hardly move my converter and I had to take it up to 3000 RPM in first or else the shift to second would stall it.

Is that not a normal experience?
