W/A or A/A Aftercooler?

Postby SicNick » Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:50 pm

As some of you know, I recently completed my 1990 6bt into 84 Chevy K30 swap, anyway summer time is here and it is time for the final stages with involve intercooling and adding A/C to my truck.

The empty weight is around 8500 lbs, it has a 4" lift on 35's and the most Ill ever tow is about 10k max. So do you guys think Id be better off with a stock first gen intercooler or a liquid air kit from frozenboost, ( their 600 HP kit) I live in the west and commonly deal with 100* summers and 0* winters. Also Im looking to settle in at 300hp.

Thanks for the opinions!

Air to air all day for a non-competition truck. The stock 1st gen intercooler has been proven to produce all the 600+hp Stomp made and my lowly 523hp (up to this point ;) ).

If your not gonna be towing I think you should be able to cool 300HP without an intercooler if you run a good turbo like an hx-40 or an S300.
Sold 91 now-intercooled W250, 388WHP 923WTQ on #2 only 423WHP 968WTQ on meth 0% correction.

Air to air or water injection is going to be your best bet then

I think the factory air to water setups were ok. They used them in rear engine busses. They really seem to shine in competition only setups were you can run ice water in them. For a DD that tows an air to air is your best bet
