changing housing

Postby T.winegar » Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:20 pm

looking to change my exhaust housing from the 18 to the 16cm.

what is the best route of doing this? I don't think its too hard, but most of you know more than I do.

any with experience please give me tips. I've had enough mess-ups on this truck, so I would like doing this simply and once.

thanks

My advice is put PB Blaster on it every day for a week. Be prepared for a fight.

Remove the oil supply line and give it a good flushing with some carb cleaner. Also use ant-seize, the high temp stuff on the bolts when you put it back together.
If you haven't yet, while it is off would be a good time to drill and tap your exhaust manifold for an EGT probe. You don't want metal getting into your engine or turbo. Stick a vacuum in there while you drill and tap.
RIP 91.5 W250 5 speed. The great experiment.
