Mystery injectors

Postby cougar » Mon Feb 21, 2011 12:13 pm

I pulled out my old injectors thinking about having them redone.
What I got;
on the body:
8965
KDAL 59 P 9 161 245bar
BOSCH 937 (in a circle) Bosch (emblem) FRANCE

nozzle is 5 hole
9745

The 245bar is right, but should be a 6 hole for a 91.5 intercooled. Another mystery from the previous owner. Anyone know what these are?
RIP 91.5 W250 5 speed. The great experiment.

Probably 5x.010. Those numbers seem familiar to me and when I figured mine out, that's what they were. These where in my 92 engine.

Finally got my gauge pins and measured the holes. They are 5X.012". That might make them 2nd gen 370 nozzles. They sure didn't run like it. The +40hp that replaced them run stronger.

Do you happen to have the numbers off of the +40's? And are they 5 hole? Still trying to figure out what my 4 hole "+40's" are. :/

Yes, they are Bosch 0432131837.
As far as number of holes and size? I don't know. I wasn't thinking along those lines 2 years ago. Sorry.
They were worth the price and work well for me. Just trying to decide on what to do with the old ones.

The nozzle on that holder should be 155° 4x0.013" cylindrical sac type with an emission style needle.

If they are a 4 holer, then the most likely injector is POD's.

Now, OP, if they were really 2nd Gen injectors and you got 40hp one made for a 1st Gen, then I could see an "increase" in power. Wonder what the pop off pressure was on the ones you pulled...

They are not a POD's, they are the same thing DDP sells as their 50hp injectors.

Tough to say on the original injector, but I would assume they are the 5x0.010" mini sac nozzle 145° cone angle.

Thanks Smokem, I think you're right. That would explain why they smoke more at WOT than 6X.009's. I put thinner washers on yesterday and that cleaned up a lot of the haze at idle. They also didn't have that problem when I had them in the 1990. Oldestof11, they're definitely not pods as the pop pressure is 245 bar, and I've always gotten better mileage with these injectors compared to ic or n/ic injectors. Pods tend to reduce mileage in most cases from what I've read. Looks like I gotta buy 145 spray angle injectors before I melt the pistons (Thats what I told the old lady last night  ) Sorry for hijacking..

Getting confused here.
The injectors I removed from my 91 where as described in the original post. They have a 5X.012' (I measured it) on what looks like a VCO nozzle. Not original to the bodies.
The injectors I installed where new Bosch 0432131837 without any modifications. They are not Lucas PODs.

I didn't have any haze problem with them until I put the 4" exhaust on. To fix that I had to go to a larger turbo.

Will this 155° spray pattern be a problem as Remps suggested? I use this truck for towing a lot.

I looked them over yesterday, just for reference to anyone interested that may have the same nozzle and is curious, they are VCO 155° cone angle 5x0.012".
