Pump top reseal and 366 spring

Postby Horus » Wed Apr 06, 2011 9:41 am

I recently resealed my pump top and installed the 366 spring while I was in there. Here is a link to my Jeep club's forum where I posted the writeup. If there is enough intrest I could try and copy/paste it into it's own thread on here.

What do ya'll think?

Good write up. I'd bring it over here. I'll be doing the 366 and a couple weeks.

agreed, great write up, I never had a good grasp on how to push the afc pin / lever out till now , im guessing that shaft with the 2 balls holding it in is what holds the afc lever on? so all one would have to do is pull the pump top, push that pin out and remove the lever? ... can someone confirm that?...never got a good grasp on that before cause im a visual "give me pictures" kind of guy

my favorite part of that write up...

I liked that part as well, ahale, not to mention his completely relatable experience with brake-clean in his eyes. Mine was carb cleaner, but still.

Excellent writeup btw, Horus. I appreciate you taking the time. 8)

Life is backwards. Why is it that hard working, or just workin folks have to deal with stuff like this.

I saw that just last week too. I use brake cleaner all the time, and sometimes to clean oil off before i weld. Not any more! Phosgene gas is bad siht, pretty sure that's what they used in WW1.

Since no one here said anything...

1st, nice write up! Post over here to help some of the guys.

2nd, your AFC pin is going down TOO far. Notice how it rides up a little from the deepest point? Take a grinder to that thing and make it deeper/higher for more power.

^ agreed, and you can see that the pin is so deep that it bottoms out the little pin, my denny t does that as well....no leak yet...crossing my fingers....but it may have atributed to why your pump leaked in the first place
