I, too have noted some of Begle's "conquest stories" and recall the Sanchez incidents well.
As far as the 351 turbo(s) spoken of here, the HE351CW is the mechanically wastegated turbo used on '04.5 through '07 5.9s and will bolt directly to a VE 12 valve's exhaust manifold.
It has a 9cm housing and may EGT higher on a long, hard pull, but it's a nice working turbo that clears the air pretty well down low.
The HE351VE is a variable vane turbo, which would be a splendid all-around turbo on the 1st gen, if you can get it to work right without spending a fortune on a controller.
It'll also function as an exhaust brake, but has the downside of an oddball T-flange pattern that requires an adapter on the pre-2007.5 engines.
