Well, the truck once again proved boring and predictable...

Timing is stock and KDP is snug as a bug.

Cam bolts are at least finger tight, I didn't bother to get a socket since they don't need to come out now anyways.

And these things point at each other like they should too, so I figured it was worth capturing in a photograph. 8)

Nice build!

I honestly think you may not need any fan at all for the cooling system. I took mine off and even on 100* days it didn't budge above 190* unless I sat at a light for 10 mins and when the water pump went out and dried the system out it hit 250* and didn't hurt a thing. In the winter I haven't seen it go above 180*

Thanks, man.

I do agree that the factory fan is a little overkill for a truck that does as much work as mine. (none at all) I honestly wonder if any truck with a full grill needs a fan most of the time, as I had a 95 Toyota that I ran with no fan for over 2 years.

It'll get an electric fan, since it's always good to have something just in case, but I don't think the factory one will be coming back.

Mine over heats when there is no movement over the radiator, so it does need a fan if you idle it at all.

Filling up yesterday, 30 degrees out, from empty to full truck heated up from 160 to 195 ish, and hit 200 as i pulled out.

within a 1/4 mile, it came back down to 170

Well, I found out a local buddy carries A1 studs, and I also grabbed a set of aftercooled injector lines he had laying around. I can't wait, my next cowbell will be so big it'll block out the sun.

I wouldn't want to pay more than $100 for a set, but that depends on how bad you need them. I Assume they cost about $60 a pop new, so that'd be $360 for a new set.

Aftercooled lines are a different animal. They go all the way around the intake instead of crossing between valvecovers toward the middle.

Like this(not my truck):

I see, some people use aftercooled and intercooled interchangeably. The ones you picked up look like the ones they used for bus engines

I'd go a bit higher for aftercooled lines, considering how less often you see them. I couldn't look at myself if I had more tha $200 in a set though.

Pffft, he won't work on his truck. That 4 door has been sitting since the baby.

Behold the fury of Microsoft paint:
Image

The plan is just what you see. Running a 3" (maybe a squished 4") hole at the back of the intake, then Y in another pipe that goes to the factory grid heater at the front. I'm looking for a 3" guillotine to run towards the back inlet, so I can close it when it's really cold and just pull through the grids. My truck is still a little grouchy when it's real cold and it's not plugged is, so the grids are needed if ether isn't available.

I am debating on whether to lean the rear inlet so it points towards the back of the head or if just it's location will be enough.
