I'll give him a call. I would do it myself if I could get parts, but GV is stingy....

i think the first # is hamby trans. if not the 800 # is marsh trans and they will give you hamby trans

if you want to do it yourself tell jeff that

i was up there for a drag race and one of the bike guys lost a gear or two in his tow rig (chevy something or another)

jeff helped the guy get his rig and trailer to his shop and let the guy use his tools to pull it that night

the next day jeff had one of his guys go thru it and dude put it back in himself and was on his way back to utah (or somewheres around there)

he will send ya the parts if ya want - i am almost sure of it

don

ummm....you got a broke sprag

a gv is like a lenco transmission

you can not decelerate with it in gear

and you sure as heck are not supposed to back up

sprags are only designed to go one direction

didnt anyone inform you of this???

Really, how's that? Seems like I'm decelerating when I take my foot off the throttle as I exit the interstate in 5th over. Been doing that for a year and a half now, no problem.

Jake Brake?!

Postby Ace » Tue Apr 22, 2008 11:12 am

I believe using it with an exhaust brake would not be a good idea. The way the clutch applies under tourqe would be pretty hard on it used that way. But letting off the throttle under normal driving up/downhill etc. is no problem.

my GV is older then ACE's and i DO us my exh brake going down hills (4th and over!) with a car and car trailer...........I'm sure there is a sprag in there, but it must be held by a clutch because if it wasn't,........It would simply go into "N" when you decelerate....and it don't.

From the way it was told to me, that's why you can't ingage the GV until 20 MPH, and it automatic disengages below 20 MPH as the pressure is not high enough to hold the clutch, and would cause it to slip.

In "R", it can't inguage do to, too low of speed for it to happen.

I Us it all the time,(GEAR VENDER all the way to the bottom of the mountain.

those that travel I-80 West heading into SLC UT, or I-80 East out of SLC know what mountain I'm talking a about.

Sound to me like its a clutch failure........... GPSMATT, You said that you are engaging it in 4WD..................This could be the cause of the failure as it can't be engaged while your in 4WD..........Unless this GV in mounted between you tranny and T-case, it will brake the GV, make pretzeled drive shaft.......or worse!!!!!!!!

Flash.
