I need to clean this mess up.

How to make it go fast

Hmmm . . . . based on that exclusively, compared to the stock/OEM timing, I'm advanced past that approximately 40 crankshaft degrees?

Am I correct in thinking that our 4-stroke engine would have the crankshaft rotate four times to the one of the IP?

Does anyone have any pics of the front of the engine with the cover removed? I'm really having trouble wraping my brain aroun what I need to do to advance my timing 1 tooth. I think its because I've never had my cover off and the few pics I havve seen I never paid attention too. just trying to get a game plan together.

Thanks Guys!

Snoot posted one recently where someone was asking about the timing marks. In the last month, IIRC.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Thanks pete, I found one, so if I'm thinking correct I need to pull the front cover, pull this gear and rotate it and teh pump shaft one tooth clockwise. Correct? I still dont understand why I'm having issues with this.

Talking about IP timing, I've recently read elsewhere that "according to the book", 1.20mm lift roughly equals 12* (for example). It seems I recall reading that a long while back.

Ever heard of such? :?

Bobby, seriously, you'll spend more time messing with the gear-case cover than advancing the IP. ;)

i,ve come across old posts from "pastor bob" stating simular, but even he seemed a little uncertain. im tempted to find a local shop with a pulse pick up and check or put up the money and get one.

Just so it's been said, the gear with the red arrow is in fact the accessory drive gear for the vacuum pump / power steering.

The gear for then IP is the big one at the top of the image. ;)
