Plastic washer?

Postby Viking » Thu Nov 26, 2009 11:54 am

Hello, and greetings from finland!
Yesterday i had an idea and started to rotate the fuel pin of my ´93 cummins ( i want little bit more power and black smoke of course). What is the meaning of the white plastic washer at the top of the fuel pin? Limit the movement of the pin? Is it necessary?

Well some trucks you can remove it and allow pin to move further down and when you remove it from some it it allows pin to travel to far and it will go to deepest part then start widdening back out. So you may be able to remove it or have to just shave it down some so you make it go down to the deepest part

Welcome from Finland! No it will not break anything if you take it out. As was mentioned it will allow the fuel cone to go deeper in the bore resulting in more fuel being thrown on the fire.

I wonder if it could alllow the fuel cone to go down to far and put a side load on the little fuel pin. I know on my 93 when I looked at the wear mark on the cone I could have just shaved some of the washer off. If I had removed it, it would have allowed the cone to go to deep.

I agree with Rich. Mine was the same way. I just shaved the washer down with some sandpaper.
Look at the mark on the cone, and kinda measure the distance to the top where it widens out, then compare with the thickness of the washer. If the washer is thicker, then shave it thinner, if the distance is greater, remove the washer.
Welcome to the site!

Mine ended up using a little less than half a washer. Actually replaced it with one of the correct or best thickness.

I spent a few weeks in Jämsä at the F18 plant there about ten years ago. I didn't see any Dodge pickups around, but sure did see alot of nice scenery, places and people. Beautiful country.

Ten years a go dodge trucks were very rare in Finland, last few years people have bought dodges from Usa, Germany, Sweden and also in Estonia because the prices and taxes is much lower in those countries than this automobile hell called Finland. And nowadays you can see dodges more often than gmc or chevy pick-ups..i think.
