Think I may have found the FINISHING touch!

Postby m880cummins » Tue Jul 03, 2012 4:58 pm

I have recently been stewing over what my truck seems to be missing. Lots of green and lots of black. I didn't want to disturb the military theme so I'm thinking this:

I have the 16" ford steelies and want to weld these in and then paint the rims black and have the rim guard hammertone silver. What do you think? Will the DOT or police/inspection station give me hastle? They AREN'T beadlocks...

Here's the current look:

BTW, Loving my new 1970 front springs! They ride really nice and haven't settled at all!

That should be nice. What size are those tires?

Might just be me, but I like the look as is. The olive drab and black is always a good look ;) I would think that Jonny Law wouldn't mess with you too much if you did decide to run them.

IIRC, 255/85 16's......?

they wont give you an issue if they arnt bead locks, but the rims will probably be a pain to balance.

255 85 16s they are.

I figured if I do a nice job prepping the wheel and ring and take my time to do some really nice welds it will balance pretty easy. Just gotta use stick on weights I guess.

You think you've found the last thing to make your diesel pick up perfect? I didn't know there was such a thing

I like the idea, may do it myself. One thing though, take the tires off the rims before welding!
