Need some new coils...

Postby Diesel » Wed Jul 18, 2012 8:02 pm

Ok I think its time to replace the front coils. I like rake but the front is so sagged. I don't need the front all high and level with the rear because I load the bed regularly but I would like the front back up to factory height. What coils will give me good ride I have now but a little less saggy. I really don't want the stiff buckboard ride I hear the 7226S springs give. The new springs can be a little taller than stock but ride has to be nice and I still have to be able to load the rear hard without the truck squatting like a nissan frontier/toyota Here is what rockauto.com has available.

What I would do is find the spring rate of the 7226S and the load height. Now go down on the numbers slightly to find what you are looking for.

I've heard, again "heard" that you can use the poly spacers from daystar for a second gen 2 wheel peel.

If that's true then I'd keep the factory spring and run the spacers,if I liked the current ride and the springs weren't beat.

Well I'm thinking I might just get some 7226 Moogs but not the 7226S. Maybe even the Rockwell RC7226 (for the price the Rockwells seems amazing but I feel like in a spring you get what you pay for).

I have coil springs on my donor D350, if they might work for ya. Don't know if they are different than what you currently have or not. I don't need them, with having a W350.

I'd like to get some new coils under there but I appreciate the offer/idea.

I see spacers on eBay. Any ideas on these?

I'd rather have spacers with a closed circle.

Yeah I am trying to figure out how that spacer works. I am guessing its not closed circle because of the casting on the A-arm.

I'm not sure. I'll have to take a gander at it. But, if the 2nd gen spacers fit, don't see a reason why these can't be a closed circle.

I'm not really looking for a full 2" of lift in the front because I really don't want it to sit level and then squat hard when its loaded down. I'll try and buy the smallest lift ones I can and report back. I'll need some stock replacement shocks and new isolators too though.
