My ’92 decided it would not start this morning. At first I thought it might be because it was the first cold morning of the year and I did not plug it in, so I cranked it a little more and it didn’t even cough. I put a little bit of fuel in the intake and it barely coughed which tells me that it is a fuel problem. Usually it fires instantly (fully running within one second after I hit the starter).
I tried to prime it via the lift pump and got no resistance at all. I bumped the starter a couple of times and tried it each in case the cam was in the wrong spot and still no resistance on the priming lever other than that which the return spring provides.
First question, does it sound like my primary problem is a bad lift pump?
Second question, what should I check to see what caused it to loose prime?
I have never had this thing fail to start or even hesitate other than a couple of slow starts in real cold when I did not plug it in.
