Turbo Question

I have a HE351CW Turbo from a 04-07 model that I want to install on my truck. I see that many are plugging off where the solenoid goes and tacking the wastegate shut. I would like to know if there is a manual controller you can install on this turbo to control boost levels yourself, I have been reading about them and looking at different controllers and I am sure there is one to work with this turbo. Can someone tell me more, I know many have used this turbo.

I'd just throw it on there and pull the hose off the wastegate. I did that on my S300 and the drive pressure opened the 'gate by itself right around 40psi. It can't hurt to try it out and see what it'll vent itself at.

I definitely wouldn't weld a wastegate shut, no matter what.

I have tacked my wastegate shut, i am currently able to hit 39psi at most. I tacked it on the outside of the housing so it would be easy enough to remove if needed.

I will try that, I cannot see welding the wastegate shut myself. I was curious about the controllers also. I have seen pics of the hose removed and the solenoid hole plugged on these turbos.

i just left the solenoid in on mine and plugged the hole, as for the wastegate, its wired shut, boost is about 35
