I ran 5x12ddp nozzles. I loved them. They had minimal smoke at wot with my twins cleaning it up. I was able to put down 330/660 this spring with what i thought was ammaxed out pump. I installed a longer fuel screw and found some more fuel. I am also in the market for some new, smaller street injectors. I'm looking at 5x14& 5x16s. I was told by a knowledgeable source that ether one would be hard to outgrow.

I'd stick with the 5 hole. I think I'm going to go 5x16 and tune it down if I have too much heat. Rather have enough then not. And I'd like to have my milage back. Along with cutting down on that idle haze at a stop light.

my 5 hole injectors run better and get better mpg than my 7 hole, but my 7 hole set is pretty large. my 5 hole set is a 5x.016 i think, ddp dose not go by hole size, and my 7's are a 7x.015.

I dont see a need for more then just the stock injector unless you plan on getting more air. 60mm gds with powerstroke intercooler I could hit 1700 degrees. Had plenty of fuel left over to burn. 63/68 turbo dropped that down to 1400. Went to 5x14 injectors didn't notice much if any performance gain and went up to 1500 on the pyrometer.

How do you like your 5x16s for overall performance? Milage, power, egt?? I'm looking into getting a set.

Non intercooled trucks have way more fuel stock then the newer trucks. I believe you when you say how hot it ran. I melted my early 91' engine down with stock injectors and young foolish behavior. Now the stock injectors In The intercooled newer truck leave a little to be desired. I've been in multiple trucks where 1000 degrees is all they could hit.

i love them. took over a second off my 1/4 mile time when i put them in. the smoke is very contollable, egts are hot but controllable, they get good milage. i can get in the low to mid 20's on the highway with them(depending on traffic, weather, and my mood) i have not tried to tow anything with them yet, but i think it may get to hot for towing.

My opinion on 7x10`s, at least the Denso nozzles is that first off they are relatively cheap compared to some other choices and they are a huge compromize at 158deg angle. I have them, they run good, are smooth, decent power (about on par with the PODs they replaced) but they frikkin HAZE at idle and part throttle no matter what my timing/AFC settings are (and I HAVE fiddled extensively) which is most likely due to either the wrong angle or the fact they are a SAC tip. I never ran a 5 hole so I cant comment but my next injector purchase will be either a 5or6 hole VCO, I hate sitting at stoplights or in traffic and having my ruck smoke/stink out a 30-40 foot radius around the vehicle.
It`s not about how hard ya hit...it`s about how hard ya can GET hit and keep movin forward.

I know the N/IC trucks have larger injectors. Thats why both of mine are 89s. :) The OP has a 90 with the 4X13 injector and I just dont see a reason for more fuel. Unless he throws more air at it and a intercooler.

I agree with you there. Stackx2's dad has a 89'. And he had that truck set so tame seat of the pants dyno. Then he put a banks intercooler in it and I think he turned it up a little more. But he has never thought about putting different injectors, as he has enough fuel already, ever with his htt upgraded hx35. As for the op I figured if he was going to upgrade, might as well go with a 5 hole. Only because I can only speak for there performance first hand.
