Widen Stock Steel Wheels?

Postby o00otii » Fri Sep 21, 2012 8:04 am

Hey everyone. I love the look of the stock wheels and everyone seems to have the alcoa/eagle alloy style wheels. Has anyone ever had a stock wheel split and widened to fit larger tires?

Sorta . . :?

Some years ago, I ran some Eaton Steel rims (16.5 x 12). Example: http://www.ntwonline.com/16.5X12-BLACK- ... FyLg66FR0s

They ultimately had to go as I had reoccurring issues with the factory welds coming up with hairline cracks. This happened when the wheels were on the front of the truck. Kept having loss of air in the tires and bubbles found the cracks.

* (If I had to do it again, I would not get the 16.5 rim as the tire bead / rim interface (slips under power) doesn't work as well as the 15" or 16").
