Head help!!!!!

Postby bmoeller » Sun Sep 23, 2012 8:02 pm

Anyone know how "tall" the stock head is on a 93? Need to find out how much mine had been milled previously. Need a thicker headgasket. :/ Can't find a p/n on the old gasket I just took out. Thanks! Hope I don't need to buy a new head. No more chanfer on the head, for the alignment dowels either.

I have yet to find a stamp with the amount that was removed.

But, the other photo should help. I have a FSM. Just hadn't stumbled across that yet.

Never mind. Found the problem. Sleep deprivation sucks. Feel like a dumbass!!

Used my 3/4" drill bit to put a new chanfer on the 2 specific bolt holes. slid right into place this time. Head is torqued down, and going back together! :D

I thought you might like it!

Bryan, what holes? And how did that affect the pushrods? I can't picture it, if the head is held up the pushrods should be loose....?

Because the rods weren't sitting down in the lifters at all. They just happened to be sticking up higher than the dowel pins were holding up the head.
