New to pump install questions

Postby SuperiorRam » Fri Sep 28, 2012 9:01 pm

Can't find after days of googling how to install a rebuilt pump that is not set to #1 tdc
So does the pump have to be timed with the special tool and depth indicatior? Or just line up the marks on the gear and put the cover on. I guess I don't want to install the thing so it fires wrong...?
I'm also wondering if someone will spell out how to find number one tdc to do valve lash correctly on a new engine again google has helped there for me

If you have the front cover off, just rotate the engine till the marks line up. Then, with the pump unlocked, line up the keyway. Everything should be good. You can tweak it in to suit your setup later.

So it Basicly rotates once instead of six times per compression stroke. I guess I didn't know what was the case lol if I needed to find number one "discharge" on the pump and line up for number one compression on the number one hole or just use the key way and line up the paint marks on the gears because of number six fireing or one ya know what I mean
