do you think that the head studs fr a 24v would be the same for a 1st gen 12v, sorry i have no idea

no the 24v are a different head design different bolt lengths and a 24v set is usually more expensive than 12v
92 w250, NV4500, D80, maxed pump, AFC gone, extended fuel screw, more to come.

Yeah they are more expensive but it is also the same block so I would verify thread size and count as well as length cause you could probably cut them down then just back a nut over the cut end?

i think it might destroy a couple of expensive dies tryin to thread hardened bolts

Why would you rethread the studs? The block threads are the same aren't they? My thought was the studs were the same other than length. Why couldn't you just shorten one side of them?

There are 2 different diameter studs for the Cummins engines in our trucks 12mm and 14mm. I do not remember when they changed though.

You can't run a die on them, ARP rolls the threads. 24valve studs are all the same length, the 12valve uses 3 different stud lengths.

As far as I know all the threads in the block for the head are 12mm, 14mm are available, but machine work is neccessary to install them.

I C Now/ but are the longest 12 valve studs longer than the any of the 24vavle studs?

Yes 6 are.

Sorry I was thinking of the crank main cap studs.

so your saying that there are some first gen trucks out there with 14mm head bolts from the factory ?

no.......12mm's will fit factory, no truck came with 14's, you got to machine the block for them to fit.....
