Motor mounts

Postby Hansen01 » Fri Nov 02, 2012 4:14 pm

Well, i think its about time for motor mounts

Image

I could see by the rust marks on it that it was about a quarter inch away from being "broken motor mounts" instead of "motor mounts"

Anyone have a good source for mounts?
Stock ones or upgraded ones?
OR is that bent tab just not important, lol

The tab should be there, I'm not sure if it should be bent like that but the two tabs should be insulated by a piece of rubber between them. The tabs keep the engine from ripping the mount from too much torque. Those don't look too bad but a replacement is $20 from most auto parts store. I have had no problems with stock fronts but I always use poly mounts by the transmission. They hold up better to oil residue and vibration out back.

There are poly mounts out. I think Taco has a link to a place in his build thread.

I don't know about their motor mounts, but I had their trans mounts and they made the truck vibrate like crazy.

I run those motor-mounts as well as the transmission mount. They work well with holding a stronger engine but they also transmit more engine/trans related vibration and noise.

I read you write up on dtr BC, and followed some links from there and decided to order some from rock auto for the time being. I chose the one on the far lefthttp://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?t=158399
As you can see the napa ones look like cheap piles of junk.
If i break and bend these il get some polys next time. Not ready for any extra noise yet
Thanks guys!
