Fuel pin issues

Postby bubba » Wed Nov 14, 2012 6:48 pm

Ok so I had a fuel leak caused by my lack of a fuel pin which caused guide pin 4 to be pushed out.

I just pushed it back in and it took a wee bit of force, I'm assuming because it was all the way out, and when it went it went. Now it appears to be stuck in the all the way in position. I still haven't put the fuel pin in but I took it for a spin and it was a dog. I got back and took the cap and diaphragm off and its still tightly in there.

No smoke, No power. Any ideas?

I mean I know I have to get the pin back out and free moving but whats gonna be the best way?

I just drove it. The pressure pushed it out the first time and it got it to come back out. Now I just need to figure out what pin I want to use...

Use a good penetrating oil and spray that pin. Work it back and forth to make sure it moves easy before putting in a fuel pin.

Not every one. Some people have a problem where the Stage 2 is to deep and allows the pin to come out to far and the fuel leaks past the oring. They say a stock ground pin fuels as much as a stage 2 only it won't allow the pin to come out to far.

What ended up happening?? On my 93 I had the same problem. My fuel pin was getting stuck/hard to move. I could push and out with a screwdriver and was pretty hard to move. On an 1989 it was very smooth and went in and out with turning the throttle..

Ended up putting in a new gov spring and turned up the power 2 rotations, and moved the diaphragm to the steepest spot for more power and smoke screw all the way in. Runs better. Wouldnt say it runs perfect, still doesn't smoke though...

Does that sound like yours?

No mine comes all the way out bc I don't have a fuel pin so it pours fuel out of the vent under throttle. I am waiting on a fuel pin to put in it. It moves fine through its intended range of motion but when I pushed it in it went too far and jammed in the bottom. driving it made it work its way out.

You could put a bolt in there so it can't come all the way out. ;)

I like my Denny T stage 2 pin,no leaks or anything. He had a video on you tube showing a 50hp gain from a stock pin on the shallowest setting. :bom: :bom: :bom:
