What is the motor worth?

Postby Horus » Tue Nov 27, 2012 2:30 pm

I just scored a 93 Club Cab 2wd auto truck. My current rig is a 91 Single cab 4x4 Getrag. I need to sell the motor out of the 93 so I can build my dream 1st gen Dodge.

I have a running VE Cummins motor with 231K on it. The VE pump has the tamper cap in place as well as the plastic top part. The pump is virgin. The motor will remain in the truck so the potential buyer can give it a test drive before buying. It will then be pulled for the buyer by a professional automotive facility.

What is that worth on the west coast? Thanks guys.

This is what I am finding with my searches as well. Very disappointing. Kinda sucks that these motors aren't worth anything compared to Duramax and Powerstroke motors selling for upwards of three times that amount.

Thank you for the response. :)

I bought mine 160k miles complete balancer to flywheel turbo to pan 750$. Duramaxs are alot newer less readily availible than the older cummins, supply and demand

maybe they break so frequently, its impossible to find a running replacement. hence the high prices.

Its all in what someone is willing to pay in your area and how long your willing to sit on it. Ive sold them from $1700-900.

Like the man said, it's worth what someone will give for it. The metal in a penny is worth more than a penny, but a $100 bill only costs about a dime to make
