Fill out your signature or tell us what year truck you have and auto or standard?

Just basic pump mods (meaning gov spring, fuel pin, turning screws) has me at nearly 270 rwhp, which is a lot more than the 160 crank HP it originally came with.

Somebody link the zero buck mods thread in here, then it's just screw-turning after that. Also lift pumping and gauge buying of course.

Lift pump, lift pump, lift pump. I cranked mine up and after I put on a piston lift pump, I could tell that it was lacking fuel in the upper rpms. That's my $.02

Fine then, I'll do it. :P I was on the phone earlier.

Zero Buck Mods

As long as you're aware of the potential of runaway when you're fiddling with the fuel screw there's really not much you can tear up in the actual modding process. You may break the little AFC line that goes to the head, but that's about it.

After the modding is when you tear stuff up. ;-)

Oh, and with my factory non-IC'd sticks, cranked pump, LPLP, BHAF, 4" exhaust and an S362, I put 268 horse down through the Getrag. Auto numbers will be anywhere from 20-50 hp lower depending on the condition of the converter.

And once you get used to it again, your fuel economy returns to where it was before. At least in my case.

Don't forget the broken parts because you are/were operating at a lower level with old parts that are loose with age and wear, then put an extra ~100HP/300 lbs/ft torque through all of it.

Not to mention that the injection pump might start leaking after you disturb it.

The ip was rebuilt not long ago, my only issue is this engine has 400k on the clock and the bottom end concerns me. I've already rebuilt the top end about a year ago. But I've never toutched the bottom end.. what do y'all think?

What's the oil pressure like at a hot idle?
Is there any appreciable blow by when you remove the oil filler cap with it hot and running?
Have you checked to see if there is a lot of end play (thrust) in the crank?

If the oil pressure is ~25 at a hot idle, no major oil/blow by fog and it has minimal thrust on the crank, turn it up some.

Since you've had the head off(?), I'd also run a torque wrench on the headbolts again, for peace of mind.
