Truck Will Not Start, Need Help

Postby nolafishr » Thu Dec 20, 2012 8:45 am

I got my truck back together after doing the KDP Repair, New Water Pump, Thermostat, Serpentine Belt, Injectors, Radiator and Hoses ,I got done the other day and started her up and ran her for a while and all of a sudden she shut down on me, I noticed that the block did not have water so I filled her up and this morning went to start her up and let her run but she will not start, she will turn over but not start, cracked the fuel lines and she is getting fuel. I am wondering if it is the crank sensore over the front harmonic balancer, that got removed while I was doing the work, I put it back on and set it at .050, is that the correct setting for it? I am thinking it could be that, I checked everything else, the truck was running fine before I tore into it. I also flushed and filled the cooling system

Did you check your FSS?

IIRC, .050" is the correct gap needed. But that shouldn't keep your truck from starting, just from charging.

I'm with Ike on this, probably FSS or the wiring up to it.
It has to be a pretty bad failure for it to be the injection pump and just up and quit with no warning.

I've had a bad FSS push enough fuel to bleed the fuel lines to the injectors, but not let enough pressure through to pop the injectors.

Thanks Guys will check that, Got the Truck running today, took her out for a drive and was running good and on the way back home she shut down on me again and while driving had a loss of power and then she would respond all of a sudden, she is acting crazy, never done this before.

Check that FSS wire. It's probably loose or grounding out, causing the truck to shut down intermittently...

mine did it too, fell all the way off, shorted out on the pump, and caught the wire harness on fire
