So my 91 threw the belt got a new one gates makes it and it seems a lil short returned it to napa ordered another from Oriellys. Another gates all i can seem to find ne others same prob the package says its the 83 3/4 the truck is intercooled n a/c so i checked here to get the part number cuz with all the stuff i work on and trusting auto parts stor computers for the right part i always check ahead and yes i know the routing is right also the
91 d250. 2wd std cab i/c convert 3.07 rears autometer guages htt stage 3 turbo 47rh convert 2 manualy controled od an lockup turns on fuel screw .5 on smoke screw and fuel pin rotated 3800gsk timing jumped 1 tooth retarded on pump settings for now resealed ip to come in spring he351ve and full 4 in ex hopefully injectors coolertubz for the other rig thanks Tim

The new belt is fairly snug. Takes some doing to get it on.

If the belt was thrown, vs snapped, I'd be looking at the tensioner. Could be bad.

I was thinking the same thing the tensioner has good holding tension spins freely/no noise and is in perfect alignment w/all the pullys i checked everything multiple times about half way through it split down the centeri hate to waste a belt but thats what warranties. R for my commercial. Acct is for n knowing the GM for over 13 years goes. A long way thx for you're info

It's a pita you need to get it over all the pulleys except 1 I had to use the water pump I believe because it's smooth. I could not get it on the alternator bc the outer rib is too tall. And there is barely room to release the tensioner ALL the way with a 1/2" ratchet

Its on thats one tight fit the last one i insalled on the 92 dident seem that bad as far as i can remember i just loosened the alt bots and after a lil fighting got it to slip onto the wp

we have been replacing all the belts on diesels with these GATES-K081264HD it elimnates the that squak when u shut the motor down and also are never seen one jump off alot stronger than the regualr black belt i would try it and a new tensioner :wrench:
1992 w250 4x4 4" custom turbo back exhaust 5x.012 HVLP lift pump 3200 181/210 M3 fuel pin, gated hx35 auto important meters

i also put a new pulley on my belt tensioner because the old one was getting grooved. before the pulley i had started to develop a belt squeak at idle, and i've always had a loud squeal on shut down. with the new pulley, and same old belt i don't have any squeak at idle and a very small occasional chirp on shutdown

Suggest you rely on Geno's Garage to get the correct part number. You need the "Fleetline" Heavy Duty bely by Gates and I believe that is the only one they sell.
