Best Mileage Injectors?

Postby 93DodgeCummins » Sun Jan 13, 2013 4:39 pm

I have been thinking about different injectors and i was wondering what injector size is the best for mileage?

Thanks

190's. More smaller holes give better atomization, promoting more power and better mileage over stock. They are actually smaller than IC injectors, but better on power.

Do they flow more than stock injectors?

You wouldn't think so, but with all my performance upgrades I've done to my 91 my fuel mileage remains unchanged.
Information on the 190s has been elusive. I would think they flow less being smaller, but makes up for it by being more efficient.

What about something bigger? I heard going with something like 40hp injectors (dont know what hole size is) can help with mileage up to 2mpg or so.

my experience with 190's has been a bit disappointing, but i can't entirely (yet anyhow) blame the injectors. they are hazy at idle and smoky down low, no matter how everything is adjusted--i wrote a post on this a while back and a couple others had the same issues. power and top end are better, and i have had a couple tanks of fuel that seemed to last forever, but for the most part no change in mpgs. i live at 6000', which doesn't help the haze, it gets better at lower elevations, but never really clears. i am going to jump a tooth soon, that seems to be the next logical step. i might add that the 190's really do not like winter fuel, even less than the stockers (what injector does?). i'm sure there are other issues involved, i just hope to get them ironed out before they water down the fuel even more.

I have been curious about this, too, though changing injectors isn't at the top of my to-do list.

Am I correct in thinking that there are a good number of "190's" being sold that are not the same as the PDR injectors? And is there a post somewhere with information for identifying the "true" 190's?

The truck I bought from AZ has "performance" injectors that are supposed to be "190's". Decent performance, decent mileage, maybe, but mother of G, that truck smokes before it is warmed up. And forget about starting it in cold weather. I have a receipt from the shop that did it -- they charged the PO to "adjust the pump", but I sure hope they didn't advance the timing, 'cause that would just be grim . . .

Sorry for the interruption,

Alec

Injector pop pressure will cause hard starts and excessive smoke as well as incorrect spray pattern. Its hard to get info on the 190's other then they are 5 hole and smaller then ic sticks. I couldn't come up with much on a quick search.

I have a set of 4 hole 190 injectors in a box somewhere. They were alright in a n/ic motor, but were hazy when cold in an ic motor.

What about something slightly larger than the ic injectors?

I was wondering about the 7/10's that seem to be gaining in popularity ?

From what I've read they are a decent compromise of a bit more power/fuel with good atomization - less smoke and better mileage then most off the shelf nozzles.

That sounds good to me :D

From what I gather they are "built to order" so they come with the proper 145% spray angle and that's one of the reasons they have less smoke too.

Someone here has got to have some mileage on a set for a review - someone - anyone ???
