You have less load on the motor with the given set up above (speed, gear, tire, etc.)

I pull that same boost/egt at 50mph unloaded (same with the wh1c I had, and hx35 that I had)

It's apples and oranges.


Did you actually weigh the load? Personally sounds awfully awfully low boost/egt for that load.

i ran it across certified truck scales. it seemed low to me as well which is why i was slightly surprised. I only gained about 100* and 2ish psi pulling a trailer that weighed 8k........who knows every mill is at least a little different

7 psi boost and 700 egt at 60 pulling 8,000 on flat ground seems normal to me. Around what both of my trucks run unless its crazy windy or 105 outside. If my trucks ran 30 psi constant towing id take my moms superduty instead. Couldn't stand that much noise.

Well, with a turbo like an s300g... it would be allot lower. But temps are around 900ish at that.

But it isn't noisy, motor gets pretty quiet with a good load on it.

Thanks for the help so far guys. I am going to get some prices on the s300g (that I don't have to wait 2 months for) and on the bd super b. It sounds to me like they will be a bit more expensive than the alternative(s) but they are better turbos. I noticed someone mentioned that the 190's have a great reputation as a towing/working injector. I am not opposed to buying injectors that complement the turbo upgrade, but will I even need to? If I buy injectors will I have to do a lift pump upgrade? Also, the wastegate on these turbos are set at 40 right? And you guys were talking about the high possibility of blowing the head gasket at 30? That dosen't sound all that appealing to me! Ha!

In my opinion, driving style is 99% of blowing a head gasket. If you stuff boost into a cold cylinder, without a doubt it'll let go even at 200 hp. There are other factors too. I have also seen trucks make about 350 with 5x18s and an S362 on stock head bolts. Drive responsibly and your wallet will thank you.

About 190s- They are also knows as Bosch +40s. I don't have them, but if for any unfortunate reason that I would have to pull injector out, they would be going in.

Bosch 190s are actually smaller than our injectors. But they are more efficient and therefore increase both power and efficiency. So it depends on your hp/tq goals

I carry the Bosch 190s for $420 new so no core charge
And I can get you that Industrial injection 57/65 S300G for $1,025 and as of last week they were in stock. w/g is adjustable on this turbo. (unlike the s300g in factory form)

As far as lift pump, it depends on if you turn up your i/p at all. There is a fellow member on here that has it turned up mildly and was pulling his fuel pressure down to 0 with the DAP (oregon fuel injection delphi) piston pump. Which is a little bit better than our stock style. So it's recommended, but not a necessity until you are ready.

As far as h/g.... it depends how often you hit your boost, and where your timing is. Should be fine to 30 all day long, but if you add some timing and a spacer 35+ is trouble.

So what you are saying is that with the mild pump mods thast I have already done (listed in first post of the thread) I will probably drop fuel pressure to 0 frequently. Especially considering that I have the stock style lift pump. In which case I would need a raptor, air dog, or fass?

Also, the 190's increase power and efficiency but what about egt's? As I said in the first post I really want the truck to be able to tow/work. I haven't set a horse power and torque goal but if I were going to it would be one that the stock clutch can hold at and from what I understand that seems to be about 300hp. I am not exactly sure where the turbo upgrade and/or injector upgrade is going to put me as far as hp and tq, but a couple of guys have mentioned right around 300hp......?

Probably will suck it down....before I did one of those fancy electric pumps,I'd buy the mechanical piston pjmp from RC's web site (the hungry diesel). I pieced a 2ndgen pump and regulator together for a little less than 150 bucks but there's the cost of fittings and such,if I had it to do over again I'd have bought the kit from him,sadly when I pieced my stuff together he wasn't offering this yet.

Anytime you have an efficient injector/turbo combination your egts will be within reason. the 190s due to their power making because of being an efficient injector....puts your egts reasonable when compared to the power output that your engine is putting out.
