The thing with solenoids is that they can tend to act like amplifiers when you disconnect them, at that point there is a surge of energy that can "bite" you and I have had it happen numerous times.
Not saying this is what happened, but it's as plausible as anything else we've discussed.

Personally, I'd just look the rest over, then replace the seals, cam plate, rollers and the springs, then give it another whirl.

Hopefully the springs won't break the bank. I am gonna get all 4 springs. I got the rebuild kit this yesterday so hopefully they have the rollers, camplate, and springs in stock. Might even grab a 3200 rpm spring while I'm in there :D You wouldn't by chance have the spring height would you? I wonder if you have to recalibrate the pump if you put a 14mm head on? I thought about getting the 4 mm camplate but I have heard too many bad things about it.

How do you replace the seal where the pin goes for the fuel pin? It's supposed to be the one that causes it to leak fuel out of the vent.

In the side of the pump top there are 2 steel balls, you have to drive them both out to get the AFC lever pin out.
Drive one in, the other pops out, then drive the pin backwards and the other falls out.
Remove the pin and the lever comes out.

On the front of the pump, behind where the throtle shaft and levers would be located, there is a plug with a hexagon hole, remove it.

Behind that plug is the fuel pin, remove it.
The hole the pin was in has a 4.5mm hollow "set screw". This is actually what holds the 'O' ring for the pin.
Use a 4.5mm allen wrench to remove the "set screw", then pick the junk 'O' ring out.

Thanks! I couldn't figure how to get the plug out. I ended up using a torx to get it out. Also mine didn't have an o ring. It had an aluminum washer. I got the pump got back together and cranked it up. It runs but it is still missing :( I think I am just gonna get the injectors replaced with some 5 x 12s. I really am at a loss as what else could be the problem. Only part in my pump that is left from the original is the case. I bought a used pump with a broken ear off the case and a broken governor lever with the same serial number and swapped all the internals into my case. My distributor plunger springs were .010 shorter than the other case. Any ideas fellas?

CMIIW, but haven't you always had the miss?
I'm assuming you didn't change the injectors from when you had the bad piston....

No the miss just started at about 10 minutes run time on this engine. And yes I reused injectors.

Yes I reused the original injectors. Could just be a strange coincidence that my pump and injectors messed up at the same time.

CMIIW, but didn't the old engine have a chowed piston?
See where I'm going here?

I don't "drift", not a ricer.
Didn't number 6 piston on your old engine have some damage?
Looking back on it, could it be possible that a bad injector is the whole issue?

Possibly. I guess with this many miles its time for some new ones anyway. I think I am gonna order some 5 x 12s on Monday from DAP.

What should my lift pump pressure be? I'm getting like 4-6 psi.

That's workable, some trucks suck it to zero, though I think 6psi is what is preferred.
It'd be nice to have ~15psi.
