injectors

Postby odee » Tue Mar 26, 2013 4:30 am

got the head back on my swap in to chevy, now I guess I can start on upgrading the engine. I have the ve pumped 6bt with the 02 turbo and exhaust brake on it, also have a 98 model intercooler on it. We put the 60lb springs in when the headgasket went. I'm looking to upgrade the injectors on the engine as far as I know they are stock to a 89 model. What would you guys recomend to put in? Thanks

What are your power goals and how are you going to use the truck?

nothing really wild power wise. I need to do a tune up on the fuel system of this truck. I just use the truck to tow my jeep and racecar with. I'm pretty happy with the power it has right now. I don't want to kill the mileage or reliabilty of the truck.

89-91.5 non intercooled injectors are good for over 300 hp if you have the air to burn it. I'd leave them stock. Anything under a 5x14 isn't much of a upgrade. With your current turbo your already going to have more fuel then you can handle if you max out the pump.

You looking at new "stock" ones, or? A " Marine 370" is about as good as a stock + a little replacement for a non i/c injector as they come.

Marine "370s" are a 5x12 155 spray angle injector.... can be had for $375.00 The Hungry Diesel.

They aren't a bad injector, they were a stock injector in the Cummins 370hp marine application. Now in stock form they are on the wrong bodies and wrong pop pressures. But one can get them built on 1st gen bodies and set for 1st gen pop pressures.
