You need a stethoscope.
92 d350, arp's, orings, 150lb springs, 4200 gsk ,ground pin ,64/71/14 ,ddp inj's, ats manifold, tim's tubez, ats trans, FASS, locker, timing + a tooth, bcdd intake

2001 2wd rclb dually 5sp, smarty, Bluechip FMS, TS MVP, 57/75 twins, stainless diesel pipe kit, valair clutch, airdog 150, DFI SAC 7x.014's, cheap a$$ intake, ARP studs, oringed head, CPP 115# springs

Is it running on all cylinders? Had a RoGator with a 5.9 break the cam at the last cylinder. Sounded about like you are saying till it made a big hole in the block but it still ran an drove. just down one hole. just a thought.

If it sounds like its coming from the transmission or the back of the motor check the rear end. I had a 96 f250 7.3 that the rear end was low on grease and started chewing up the gears. The sound will travel through the driveshaft making you think its the tranny.

well just to give you guys an update I do believe I found my problem it was number 6 cylinder spun main bearing the crankshaft looks pretty bad I'm going to have to pull it out have it machine .well as it is now I have the whole core support out my truck it looks pretty discouraging .what's the easiest way to remove a crankshaft? Sould I pull the engine or should I do it from the truck if so how would I?

Just pull the rest of the engine.

Yup, I couldn't even get an oil pan gasket in while my engine was in the truck, I can just imagine how fun getting the crank out would be. :lol:
