You can put 1/4-20 screws in to replace the ball bearings.

If you're using a small profile fuel pin or a stock one, you shouldn't need a longer slide pin.
You don't have to put new ball bearings in there, just use a dab of diesel resistant sealer under the balls, if it bothers you that they might leak.
New balls won't fix anything if you nick or scrape the bores on removal and I always use a dab of gray Loctite RTV under them anyway.
