Did some tweaks

So after following some links and watching a couple videos, I jumped in. Smoke screw- in just half a turn. Don't want big black cloud, gut a black haze under heavy acceleration. Star- in 11/2 turns. Fuel pin- I tried to flip it, but think I put it back stock, as the dot on the metal in the diaphram is at 12o clock( or towards the valve cover) . Bt took for a drive and hit 90 on the interstate, was running 75@1800rpm with7-8pounds boost and egt around 800. I did notice at WOT she had a black haze, something that didn't happen before at all. I could stand on it before and never saw any smoke. Only time she smoked before was a puff of black at start up, which doesn't seem to take one revolution. Mechanically, it was soooo easy. If I had known would have done this 3 years ago when I got the truck. Now to see how mpg hols up. Right now have been getting 15-16 driving 20 miles oneway to work, a combo of hiway and town driving.

Well couldn't leave it alone. Went back out to redo the pin orientation, and while at it maybe mess with the star a little more. This is when it seems to me someone may have been here before. How many turns does it usually take to bottom out the star? Mine only took another 1/4 turn from the 1 1/2 I put in yesterday. Rotated my pin so the dot was about 2 o clock, which put the deep cutout to the front. Left the smoke screw alone, for now.
Is it possible when the original owner had the Banks Power pack work done they did the pin and star? But the pin wasn't fully rotated, so...
To get more up top, the next tweak is the fuel screw? Will all off this boost egt's too much? I do haul a 14k lb. 5th wheel, with an automatic. And will be going from SW Fla to Mo or Ok.

To get more up top, get your throttle linkage making a full swing, take the slack out of your throttle cable, and start saving up for a better LP.

Lots-o-stuff in here that'll help out without turning anything, but you're gonna have to tweak on the actual fuel screw on the back if you're really wanting to wake it up.

What other gauges? I currently have Banks tach and pyro and Isspeo manifold pressure.

Transmission oil temp wouldn't hurt, but the pyro is the important one according to the experts.

Yeah, a stock converter will probably get those temps cookin' with a decent load and a 50-75% power boost, but I think your truck's engine coolant will actually get too hot before your trans does, if you've still got the heat exchanger on the engine.

So what can I do to alleviate the potential overheat problem? Just not push it? Cruise at 60 and leave power on tap?

Well, if you're cruising on flat ground all the time it's not a concern, it's taking off and pulling grades that will stress it. Best thing is an auxiliary cooler, with a fan, mounted somewhere with access to cold air. The factory optioned one was mounted under the bed, ahead of the fuel tank I believe.

Next would be a tighter converter to alleviate the "slipping" that causes the heat. I can't really opinionate of the best stall for that as I have minimal towing experience. I had a really tight converter (~1k stall) in my truck once and while great for mileage and fun I was able to fall under the turbo at times even while unloaded. You'll have to see what some actual workers have to say about some actual cooler sizes and stall speeds as to what works for them.

Honestly, a 5-speed swap is what I would reccomend for a pure work truck, but if that's not an option then this stuff oughta help out.

Is the stock cooler in the radiator, like a gas vehicle?
Will most likely reinstall a trans temp gauge, used to have one but was removed after my younger brother broke the gauge.?.

Nope, there's a small air cooler above the radiator behind your grill and then on the passenger side of your engine below and behind your turbo you'll see a black, round thing with water lines going into it. That's your liquid heat exchanger for your trans.

So that's what that is. I had a hose blow off that in a WalMart parking lot and my trans bled out. I had to push it into a parking spot and go buy all the fluid they had on the shelf. So the air cooled one is that little thing that looks more like a power steering cooler?

That little thing doesn't look like it would cool much, and no room up front with ylthe IC in there. No wonder coolant temps rise, with cooling engine, oil, and trans.
