A "Jet Propelled" auto and a leaking rear end?
Just those 2 things could POTENTIALLY run into $2k, not to mention the stuff you'll have to to do "just because".
Sounds like another parts rig that needs fixin'.

I can't shake the idea that you should just save money and wait for what you really want to pop up, and it will do just that, "Pop Up".

Mark.

Pop up is right. Two weeks after I bought my 92, a 93 W350 ex cab 5 speed, 140k one owner miles, never seen salt. It was a snow birds truck. It went for only $1k more than I paid for my rusted out 92. I'd say hold out and find the perfect truck for you...

OK, CP59 and Mark, thanks for the input...
Will have to wait for it to pop up then.. :)

tpBill, I was thinking exactly and tempted to do what you are suggesting...but that could be opening a whole can of worms...

Thank you all, and if others feel like sharing their opinions too, so much the better...it's all very helpful to me at this stage.

I've always made a wrong decision when I decide when I should buy something.

Anytime i've waited for when the Lord wanted me to buy it.......it just popped up, no one else wanted to buy it, and everything fell into place, and to 'boot it was always the right one.

Well, I ended up purchasing a 2nd gen Isuzu Trooper yesterday. I'll build a storage/sleeping platform for it and use it for the rest of the summer/fall to go camping with my gf... I needed something right now and luckily enough the truck seems in very good shape. I'll of course keep an eye on finding a suitable 1st gen Dodge Cummins in the long run. This way I can take the time to wait for the right truck (manual tr, 4x4, my price range) to come along.

Glad you found something that works for you. Now, the way the fickle finger works, in the next few days the exact 1st gen you've been looking for will show up.

Thanks and I hope not, because if that happened right now, I would be very depressed, indeed.
