hot idle chugging

Postby ellis93 » Fri Jun 28, 2013 6:24 pm

Well it happens after I pull up to a stop sign after running for 20 or so min with the AC on,turn off the AC and it goes away. Normal idle is at 1k,with the AC on its about 900ish,when it starts chugging its at 500. What's y'alls thoughts on this? Weak pump? Injectors?

This only happens with the AC on and truck hot

Normal for a higher mileage pump.

Working stuff harder, fuel gets thinner...............h/r doesn't push thin fuel as well.

Turning it don't won't change anything.......... simply keeps you from lengthening the injection event as far at wot.

Won't? Wouldn't it take some of the strain off of the H&R? Seems like that kinda thinking works for other hydrologic items I fool around with

Yes..........and no

All depends if you drive it harder now than you do when it's turned down.

From what I'm reading..............it is.............but only when it's hot.

Meaning that it is putting more of a strain on it when the fuel is warmer............this is "normal" with a higher mileage pump. Heck, mine does it and it still moves tons of fuel.

The way I fix mine is to turn the idle up............mine won't drop down as far.

It is and its new....

This really has always happened with the air on but here lately it's gotten worse.
I don't know what I'm gonna do about it.....probably just idle it up

Next time it is happening, take a hose to your pump and cool it down. I'll bet it starts idling normally.

That's what it did

The stars aligned and I happened to be near a set of AC gauges while it was doing it,pressures were fine.....took the water hose to the pump.....it's the problem :o

Mother........ :yuck:

I need a pump :(

I need a pump too.
Maybe I should put a temp sensor on the pump and have water spray on it when it reaches the "chug" temp!

Why not just add some water to the fuel? Then it will be internally cooled!

It's due for a lot of these pumps, I mean.....they are 20 years old. H/R assembly from Bosch runs about 450 (re man - but it's Bosch)
