I think the fine on that is like $10k, it would take about me more than 20 years to make that up in money saved in no tax fuel.. I'll never run red fuel in my truck lol

Pretty sure you're right on the fine, and that's the 1st offense. It goes up from there. I have done it in the past once in a while, but not anymore. The DOT is all over, more lately because the state thinks it needs the money. Plus my '92 I run to Indiana and Iowa, out there they check your truck when it's in a parking lot sometimes.

Not to mention,it's some of the filthiest diesel you can buy.

I use to run it a lot till I started paying attention to the fuel filters on my tractors. That stuff....around here,maybe y'all have better stuff....is some nasty stuff. Builds some kinda gross algae in the sediment bowls and my God at the rust and trash I've ran across out of the tanks it's stored in. I don't think the tanks are as well kept as the on road stuff.....again around here.

Has anyone ever heard of 2 stroke gumming up the nozzles and building carbon deposits up?

I've heard that in the past that both atf and 2 stroke do such......

Not sure about that RC....but I think it has caused my truck to smoke a lot of bluish smoke and my batt gauge
is bouncing now that it got cold.

Ya.... this whole winter thing (and I have no grid heaters) sucks........I'm about to put in 30x.001 injectors. Maybe then the fire department won't get called to our house when I fire it up.

So, for a little story.... The other day my dad filled up his truck and asked me "I have 2 gallons of 2 year old mixed gas, do you think I can add that to my tank"? I said, "shouldn't hurt anything, I'd add a little extra 2 stroke in it for good measure". So he adds it in.

No joke, I bet it added 50hp to his stock truck. He asked if I thought it has the 2 stroke or the gas. I told him that "Ya, I bet that gas wasn't that old".

I don't know how it is in your states, but I have NEVER had my tank dipped in either my personal vehicle or a commercial vehicle. I'm still not taking the risk though, cause you never know.

I haven't been doing the 2 stroke oil thing for a few years either. I just add whatever diesel additive is handy at the time. There's a few old junker first gens running around in my town and I would bet they don't add anything either, and they are still on the road.

I don't think you have to, but I don't think it hurts anything. I mean the more lube the better to a point.

Back your timing off some for the winter, RC. My truck covered my whole house in smoke when I had it a tooth+maxed slots. I pulled it back to half slot and it barely smokes at all.

I have noticed slightly more haze if I use 2 stroke oil alot, I'd say it could cause more than usual carbon buildup on the injectors if it makes the exhaust dirtier. I generally only add it every 2-3 fill ups when I think of it, sometimes less often.

I've been using the Wally World TC-3 or whatever it is 2 stroke oil for several years, VE pump 4BT. I noticed no increase in smoke with it. I doubt it causes deposits or gums things up because it's specifically formulated to be used in small engine carburetion systems that have REALLY small orifices and jets, and it's designed as well to be burned in the combustion chamber. Just because diesel uses compression to produce spark compared to a spark plug induced spark I can't see there being any major difference? That re-labeled Wally oil is made by a major mfgr. that's highly respected, can't remember who, is it Valvoline...?
