Throttle reversed

Postby 75Dodge » Mon Feb 04, 2008 12:37 pm

I have an 89 dodge D-250 w/ the 5.9. It has approximately 320,000 miles on it. I rebuilt the injection pump with new gaskets and seals because it developed a leak at the distributor head. Now that I have rebuilt it a few times I have got it to run. Unfortunately, the throttle is somehow reversed!
At normal idle it is at full speed and at full speed it is at idle. I haven't tweaked it at all, but in order to get it to idle properly I have to back the full load screw over a quarter of an inch!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out, give me a few suggestions of what to do. I have checked the likage in and outside the pump and all is in good order, yet it is still screwed up. I was thinking that I might have the control collar on the distributor plunger backwards. Or maybe it is out of time? Thanks!

Does it have a specific orientation? I had played around with it and still nothing.

if your lookin at the top of the pump the little thing you gov spring hooks to on the throttle shaft should be facin to the engine.

Well I took the top off and it looks like the control collar is in the correct orientation, but I am taking your advice about the throttle lever and am trying that. Any other ideas?

thatt and make sure your shaft is indexed correctly when you install the lever onto the shaft that wont cuase it to be reversed but it will cuase to low/to high idle or not enough travel for wot
