Postby gear jammer 91" » Thu Feb 07, 2008 9:51 pm

I just got my gasket kit for my IP and it came with everything I need except the f*cking throttle shaft bushing. fortunately for me that is where my leak is  WTF! The part number on the kit is DGK121 I thought it was supposed to have this damn bushing but since it doesn't I need all the help I can get in trying to locate one of those things, and probably a couple valium so i can relax. I need my truck back on the road please help!

Thanks for the part number :) I have just been informed that their is an o-ring on the throttle shaft, I'm gonna try just replacing it but if it still leaks I'm gonna have to get that bushing.

I have been told by a reliable sourse that the throttle shaft also wears. If your doing the bushing to throw a shaft in also. I don't have a numbr for that one.

Is there a lot of play in the shaft? If not, just do the o-ring. The pump shop here likes to install the bushing and bake it in an oven to cure. Clear cut case of CYA. They wanna make sure the glue is set.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I tore it apart last night. Their wasn't ant significant play in the shaft so I just installed a new o-ring, a new pump top gasket, and most importantly a 3200 rpm gov spring :P . The leak is gone and gov spring is the best money I've spent on the truck so far, It's loke turning the fuel screw in all over agin 8) .Thanks for all help everyone. :)

Did you do this with the pump still on the engine; or, did you have to remove the pump ??

Thanks.

I never took the pump off the truck. I did have to loosen the mounting nuts cause I had the pump timed up against the head and I couldn't get to the idle screw. Once I moved it back away from the head it was pretty easy and only took a couple hours.
