injection pump gear

i recently blew my injection pump gear in half and shot it out the casing and ive been having a hard time figuring how it happened because I just turned the key and bam!! im also having an issue locating a new casing and gear
ideas

Is your kdp still in place?
89 RC on shortened 92 diesel frame - NV4500 w/dual disc/4.10s on 37s. - Self built pump, "hot screw", lots of timing, True high volume low pressure lift pump, 62fmw/68/.7gated, 77lpm SAC Inj., Studs/O-rings,- 423/1220 Mustang - 11/16/2013 http://www.TheHungryDiesel.com full line dealer, if you don't see it please ask.

It has happened to other people also. No one has figured out why.

Check your camshaft. Most of the time when the gear goes threw the case. It will break the camshaft.

Now for the worse news. If the camshaft is broken. It most likely has bent every valve in the cylinder head.

So do some checking of the camshaft. If it is broken it will come in cheaper to find a running VE engine used.

Im sure that the gears are heat treated, but after so many miles lots of things can happen. This is the first time I have heard about it.
