While we are on this topic where is the best place to find a case spreader? I'll probably be setting up a D60 front.

Using my dad's 85 Crew Cab Cummins for the trailer hauling.

Dropped off the 80 to my "axle guy". Since the truck is over there, I'm going to have him drop it in. He said the 80 seems really good (without tearing into it). Has a power-lok. Going to be getting new brakes on it.... and we are going to transfer my stock 70 axle perches onto the new axle. That way we don't have to mess with the 2.5" vs 3" crap.

I'm really considering a D80 and a D60F, the 71 is getting pretty loose and going with 4.10's because I'm running 35's. Other option I've considered, yet expensive, is running 3.31 gears in the 80 and 3.31's in the 61, 3.31's will match the 35's like stock tires and 3.07's...did the math.

Everything is back home, now the rest of the work begins.

Anyone have a good wheel spacer brand they trust?

I run aluminum ones on my pile, but if I had to do it again, I would use the all steel units. I had to buy new lug nuts as the ones that came with the spacers are junk, I used a 3/4"hex type nut for the 9/16" studs I run. Anything with a larger head/hex is going to be a pain in the arse to use, 3/4" ones work well and I can even use a standard impact socket on them and not those thin wall chrome jobbers.

These are 1.5" units, and you can see the 3/4" hex 9/16" nuts. They don't look fully on, but they are rather tall so I ran with it. They've been on for about 8000 miles now...good enough for me.

Where did you get them? So, you replaced your factory 1/2" with 9/16" studs and then put on the spacer?

Did you have to cut down the 9/16" stud upgrade (the ones that go through the rotor?)

Fleabay :?

I recommend anyone running anything other than the stock steel wheels to upgrade to the longer and stronger 9/16" studs for safety sake.

I'm not following on the cut down part...I used Dorman 610-283's and they fit in the OE holes like a glove.

I wasn't sure if the 9/16" studs had more than 1.5" of protrusion... meaning if they did, they would have to be cut down in order to not protrude past the spacer.

Well, on the rear I had to shave them maybe 1/16", as they did protrude out. No biggie there, just some time with the bench grinder and a die to clean everything up nice and proper. Fronts were no worries.

Ok, because the front is what I want to run them on.

My rear axle is now 2" wider than the front...I want to have the front slightly wider than the rear. Not only do they track a bagillion times better in the snow... I also think a wider rear axle (or even the same width) just looks retarded.

Not to mention that the wider your axle is compared to your spring... the softer the truck rides. As the tire has more leverage on the spring pack.

Having a slightly wider front also helps with the turning radius. I feel the same about the looks of the same or wider rear thing...

I do feel that with a 3" wider than stock stance up front, and a 6" wider than stock stance in back... that most folks simply won't realize HOW MUCH of a stability gain that is on a lifted truck.
