wow! i wonder if thats a knock off of this one thats been out for a long time???

but i dont think there is anything like it available for a 1st gen. it would take some creativity due to where the steering box is mounted.

The steering boxes are identical. The only difference between the two and four wheel drives is the 4x4 box mounts on a bracket that spaces it away from the frame, and that bracket is what causes the known problems.

let me ask this....ate people having problems with 2x2 trucks haveing frame issues at the steering box?

i know for a fact that the frames are different and believe that the steering gear is as well. the bolt pattern on the housing i think is different but either way if the frames different that cheesy bracket wouldnt work.

If ya look at drivetrain.com's web site ya will see that the part #DTS1178 Dodge 4X2/4X4 is for both 2 and 4 wheel drive trucks.

Also http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1991/19-02-91.htm shows a TSB that is of some interest to Dodge truck owners. As I understand it, replacing just the cracked bracket is not enough...you must use this bolt upgrade as well to prevent future issues.
