In my humble opinion and from extensive research on fluid dynamics, given that the turbo outlets are the bottle neck once you hit 3" piping, it would be a waste of time n money to go 4" cooler inlet/outlet

they do make larger my s485 has a race compressor housing and the outlet is slightly over 3.5". so the 4" w/a cooler should be good to go in between the turbo's. i notice all the big power powerjokes run 4"??? i also run it on the s10 along with about every other big single turbo gasser in the country so it must be worth some kinda flow. but on the gasser i did notice slower spool but a harder hit on the top.

sure 4" is worth some flow - and your talkin turbos with big enough outlets to utilize 4"
If your running an hx35, hx40, or s300 or gt38 or similar turbo as your small turbo the outlet pipe is about 2 3/4"

thats the bottleneck

the outlet on my cat s300 is 3" . don for what your doin with you truck i would stay with the 3" piping. the truck of mine that is gettin the 4" is goin for all out power and will never pull anything but a sled or away from the cars at the races on sat nite lol

that truck has a tiny elbow on the turbo, a 2.5 inlet cooler, with a 2.5 outlet, and a stock elbow on the intake plate

do you really think putting 3" tubes on it is gonna make any diff to egts or power?

when i get that motor in the 2nd gen diff story

i think the inlet/outlet of that cooler are like 3.5"

and i can put diff size elbow at turbo and motor

All the way up to 2007 the intercooler and or piping has one 2 1/2 I.D inlet or outlet - I dont know which is which by lookin at the pipes
The rest were all 3" I.d.

I bought intercooler pipes on Ebay for a 2007, one was plastic and one end is necked down to that size. It is the 90 degree plastic one that is necked down

I suspect it is the factories way of makin sure boost is sloowed down even with upgrades
