Does anyone have any experience with the CRD Jeep Liberty? I put a deposit on one yesterday (the guy just traded it in less than an hour before, they hadn't even cleaned it yet) and I will be taking it to a trusted shop on Monday so they can check the suspension, tranny and various other things, but I'd like some opinions on the vehicle overall if you all wouldn't mind. It has the 2.8L diesel engine, a nice shifting automatic, the 4WD system works great, all the AC controls work and it only has 112K miles. It doesn't have any record of a timing belt being done so that will be the first thing I do if I purchase it. The only thing that doesn't work on the vehicle is the sunroof, it will pop up in the rear but it won't open. Not a big deal to me but it may be enough to haggle with the dealer a bit. Here are a few pictures I took of it while we were on a test drive.

In other news, I driven my brother over 1000 miles in 2 days to find a car for him. We drove past Cincinnati (over 150 miles, one way) to look at a '10 Golf TDI that the dealer said was in "almost showroom condition." When we got there the battery was dead, the car had no fuel, there were scratches all over the bumper, the check engine light was on, none of the AC controls would work and the brakes needed to be replaced. Needless to say we were out of there in just a few minutes. On the way back home he found another '10 Golf TDI with only 52K miles. This was at a reputable dealership but according to Autotrader it was 300 miles away in Memphis, TN. A few calls to the dealership and they said they'd hold it for us, so we left at 0500 the next morning. It turns out that Autotrader was wrong too, it wasn't 300 miles away, it was 410 miles one way. It was a long ass drive but we didn't leave empty handed.

I also broke 50 mpg with my car on the way down there. I filled up before we left and I made it over 700 miles on one tank (set the cruise to 70 mph) before I had to fill up again. Definitely can't complain about that.
