Joel, I have no idea what a suncoast overhaul is going to run...I just know I've never heard a bad word about them and they have one hell of a reputation

Tank, who's Josh?? LOL I dont' have a number right now...I'm still sitting in the big sandbox. I'll be home in a few weeks, though, so I'll be able to put the pieces together. Right now, I'm in the process of getting my parts in and doing my research so it'll all go together the way I want it to.

Thanks for all the help, guys, you've been great!

10 Grand for a tranny rebuild?!?! That's NUTZ!!! Of course, if that's with ALL of their mods, you should probably be able to run it in a big rig...LOL I doubt I'll ever make the kind of power to need all of that...

Can anybody ID this turbo? Any specs on it?? Worth picking up??
It's a CAT P/N 4R8915 with S/N C2EGL060 DO605A 461

Thanks

Actually Don it was 586/1298 on nitrous according to Josh when it happened. He was still one of the elite 4 to be in the 400+rwhp range on #2 only and a 12mm pump head. 8)

Buying a tranny outright from suncoast, this is what I've found so far just off of their website...

For an A518 (46RH).....$2295 (it doesn't say with or without a TC)
A518 TC...........$683 (non-lock-up)

For a 47RH..................$2695 (again, it doesn't say with or without a TC)
47RH TC.............$1295 (lock-up TC)

Being that their site doesn't specify whether or not the tranny includes a TC, I'm going to assume that they don't. Also, I couldn't find any warranty information on their site. I'm gonna have to call them when I get a chance and talk to one of their reps to get more details...

What kind of HP/TQ ratings should I be looking for?? I'm hoping for somewhere around 500hp, 1100tq...does that sound about right??

Don, lol 600hp i wish. I was close but still missed it by 14hp. KTA's got it figured out. 8)

Dad has close to $8000+ sunk in to a 47RE. Its got Billet everything, flexplate, shafts, etc, etc. Everything you can get. The sad part is its currently down right now. You would think after you spend that kinda money, you shouldnt have to touch it again, except for basic maintance.

If you gonna tow and tow heavy stick with a nv4500 and a nice DD.
You wouldnt think pullin around 16-20 tons with 500hp would be that hard on stuff.

Tow that kind of weight with a NV4500 and the 5th gear won't stay on, at least if you are using 5th. If you are towing 40000lbs you need a semi not a pickup truck.

1st sorry jimmy for the hijack but we have some non believers on the forum.
1) Tandam axels with duals, 30ft gooseneck trailer.
2) electric over hydro brakes
3) Fully splined mainshaft, sbc dd, big input, plenty of hp/tq!
4) Take yer time, dont get in a hurry, and keep plenty of distance.

KTA Ive seen these trucks with loads that i have a hard time believeing. Our mortz weighs in at 8900lb. You figure 460 wire tie square bales of clover hay ranging from 18-20% moisture. Shit with an average bale weight of 68lb, it would be 31,280lb just in hay. We've done this dozens of times, hell ive got the wieght slips to prove it.

Now granted, it is extremely hard on parts, and yes we should use a semi. But this is also an extreme case. Our average load on the truck is around 16tons. Its done this since it was new in 97. The tranny has been rebuilt once with the updated parts, and this is its second clutch. The stock clutch lasted 110tho miles! Its got 152tho on it now. O and one new piston, it was cracked when we blew the hg. But all in all its still purrin like a kitten.

Ill have don post some pics of a normal load here in a little while, ive got to get back to class.
