Difference between Cummins 160hp & 180hp Ve pump

Postby Brutus_Marcus » Fri Mar 07, 2008 2:23 am

Hi,
I sorry if i am not supposed to be posting it here, and the dumb newbee question. Thanks in advance to everyone..
Its not particularly a Dodge question, but Is there really any difference in the Ve pump and Injectors between the 160hp and 180hp Cummins 6bt motor, both being intercooled. I know of a place that has a pile of these motors lying around and might have both the motors lying around. If there isnt any difference then i can pick either one and bomb it.
Regards,
Bikram

Probably the same or similar. I'm gonna say it all in the pump calibration, there might be some minor differences like delivery valve holder lengths.

Thats not a leak, its the external lubrication system.

We have both the versions here(160hp &180hp). But just like you guys said, maybe they are the same bcoz not only is there a difference of only 20Hp but even the Torque difference is only about 60lb(160Hp/415lbft & 180Hp/470lbft).....
Thanks guys
