Heading back to the track in a week or two with a set of 33x10.5W slicks (no more defueling at 65mph) and a tiny shot (.050 jet) of nitrous. Hopin for 8s in the 1/8th at the very least. Have any 1st gens run a 7 second 1/8th mile yet? Maybe 7.99 will be my new goal :D

I know it should run 7s, but I would rather be conservative than be dissapointed. If I can improve upon my 2.25 60ft time that will help a lot. Hoping for 1.9X's.

1.9X's with slicks, my best 60ft is 1.94 on street tires (2 psi launch) so with slicks I could probily be in the 1.70's or better.

1.9 on street tires? really? What kind of tires? Suspension mods? Posi? Engine block on the tailgate? Inquiring minds want to know :)

I don't know how it is in a heavy truck but my CJ5 has a spool and 4:10 gears with a torque-y (for a gas motor) straight six, and welden em up or spoolin it is the only way to go. I live in the northwest and it rains 13 months outa the year and I have no issues driving in the rain, in corners, at highway speed, or any where. Best of all you will be able to do donuts in intersections if you want. :thumleft:

Personaly I don't like driving a welded or spooled rear on the street. The detriot in one of my past Jeeps would stick lock sometimes. Unless you drove it hard enough to really break the tire loose, it jumped really bad. Made trying to park pretty tricky. On our diesels most of the weight is on the front, which makes a spooled rear easy to walk sideways.

I have lockers front and rear with 35" BFG MT's and they chirp around corners fine, I get very little hopping. When it rains I want to hang myself though :(

The problem with detroits is that they engage and disengage while you are cornering and they do it very abruptly, wich can cause the jerking while cornering. The tires I am running on my jeep are of a soft compound and they don't squeal or chirp or hop, my buddies jeep's with harder compound tires and spool's, do have all those bad characteristics. If my dodge had a spool I bet it would be pretty interesting with all the rain we get here, but if all I wanted to do was go straight for cheap, I'd weld it up.

Hey guys, just got back from the dyno. 301/628, broke 300! Mods since last time are a BHAF, cheapo 4-inch exhaust starting under the cab, and a Dynomite Diesel fuel pin. Only 30psi on the dyno, hits 36-37 on the street, so real numbers might even be a little more. I'm pretty happy with how things are going. :)
