For some reason I can't fathom the idiots upstairs want to go to journeyman who can do cvips, and get away from having apprentices. That makes me the expendable one, but still needed for a little more than a week still since they don't have another mechanic hired or something. So basically I have very little motivation to do things in a timely fashion. If it were me getting laid off due to lack of work again I wouldn't mind so much, but this is total bs.

Sorry to hear that. Corporation bean counters at their finest. One question I bet was not asked. How many qualified journeyman does this area have and is it enough to support the company long term goals.

This places mechanic turnover rate is atrocious. Since November, 3 have left, and one is on disability due to eye surgery. The other that was already here is looking for something else, and the newest guy is on his 2nd hitch, so I think he cares a bit still. It's bad enough other places in town actually talk about how these guys can't keep mechanics

Of course nobody local had anything close so I called a semi trailer repair place to make me some. They didn't have 9/16" rod so I upgraded to 5/8". 4 ubolts with nuts and washers = $76. Really?

I can't remember.. but I think i paid like $12 a piece for my u-bolts when I did my swap last winter.

Jeff, it may depend on the place. I paid about what you did a few years ago when I put new springs under my truck.

Sticker prices on 3rd gens don't bother me to much, 4th gens on the other hand....lol. my thing is I want a dually and the dilemma is I would like it to ride decent and not rattle my teeth out.

I'm half tempted to toss my crew cab, my spare crew cab cab, and my complete donor w250 up for sale for some ridiculous high price and see if I can unload them.

Idk.....I like the trucks, honestly. It'll just take me a few more years before I'll warm up to paying the money they command.

There are things you could do to improve the ride of what you have......and just think how many payments you could save/keep if you improve upon your lusted after mule.

I installed my rear air ride for about 3 payments on a late model truck. It rides better in the rear than a late model truck. When it warms up, time to go after the front axle ride ride quality.

I say fix what is payed off.

There's a thread on compd about Ron Allen's old 92. Apparently it now sits on a 3rd gen frame. That could be an option if you can find a wrecked frt without a tweaked frame, and have the time/patience to remount what needs to be moved

I'm with Philip. Air ride makes a HUGE difference. Heck, I'm still on the fence if I want 19.5's or not, I can get them for next to nothing...yeah, they'll "ride" rougher, but with air ride at all four corners should help out substantially. Just having a single bag Kelderman rear system took a lot of the harshness out of the ride.

I have a wheelhorse with and onan engine that has low compression (40 lbs on one side). I lapped and adjusted the valves and put in a new gasket on this side and gained a whopping 6 lbs. What would be the next step in figuring out whats wrong? Rings?

That sounds about right Matt. Did you squirt some oil in it and compression test it again? If it's low and you put in some oil and it comes up, then it's usually the rings.
