Belt routing w/ no a/c

Postby NYCEGUY01 » Sat Mar 15, 2008 4:27 pm

Anyone have a pic or chart on the correct way to delete the a/c compressor on a 92.

Is the tensioner the same etc...

I was gonna just use a piece of angle iron and an idler pulley from the boneyard but figured some of these trucks must have came without a/c and I would rather do it the same way those trucks are allready setup.

Just remove the compressor and use a shorter belt. Only difference is the belt and the routing. The autoparts will ask if you have A/C or not when you buy a belt.

By the looks of it guess the only thing Ill have to do is swap the tensioner pulley. It has the smooth one for the back of the belt to ride on and Ill need the grooved one for the front side of the belt.

Should be a 10 min fix.

Just trying to save as much weight as possible on this project. The heater box etc.. will probably go as well.

You don't neccessarily have to change the pulley. I have seen quite a few that run the grooved side on the smooth pulley. JMHO. ;)
